SOS/Lighthouse

The purpose of South Oakland Shelter (SOS) is to help homeless individuals with their immediate needs while they actively work toward more permanent solutions to their homelessness. SOS is a rotating emergency shelter that resides in area host churches. Each church takes a one week turn in the rotation. SOS is now under the umbrella of Lighthouse.

Every May our parish provides SOS with meals for one week for families in need.  It takes a huge commitment and tremendous coordination to make this short, intense week a success. It takes close to 100 people and over $3,000 for the church to help our friends.

There are a multitude of ways to be involved in this tremendous effort. This year's event happens from May 12th to the 18th.  If you would like to volunteer, please click the button below and you will be directed to a sign up sheet.  Thank you!
