Welcome to St. Philip's!

We’re so glad you are interested in St. Philip’s. If you’re reading this, you’ve probably either come to church or watched our service online. So you have a sense of our worship.

You probably have questions. Very often people have questions about how the Episcopal Church is similar to and different from the church they have formerly attended. Or you may be brand new to the whole concept of church. A good first step is to schedule a meeting with our priest. He can come to your house, meet you in the church office, or take you out for coffee or lunch. Feel free to ask him anything.

In the meantime, here are some answers to frequently asked questions.

What do Episcopalians believe?

How do I become a member?

  • First, we want you to know you are welcome even if you never decide to become a formal member.
  • If you do wish to become a member, there are several options depending on your personal circumstances.
    • You can be baptized at St. Philip’s.
    • If you were baptized elsewhere, you can be recorded as a baptized member.
    • You can be confirmed by our Bishop at a confirmation service.
    • If you have been confirmed elsewhere, you can be received by the Bishop at that confirmation service.

How do I start to feel like I belong?

  • It can take time for a new church to feel like home. Here are a few things to help you get started:
    • Subscribe to the E-pistle, our weekly email newsletter.
    • Get a name tag by signing up on the clipboard near the entrance.
    • Participate in a ministry—there are lots of options. Hosting coffee hour, for one example, is an easy way to meet people.
    • Come to an STP dinner, our small group dinners. Talk to Fr. Eric and he’ll make sure you get an invite to a group.
    • Come to the newcomers picnic in the summer. Every summer Fr. Eric hosts a picnic at his house. Come along and meet some nice folks—other new members and some of our church leaders.

We'd love to get to know you better.

You can make an appointment any time with Fr. Eric for coffee or a visit.

  • Just call (248)651-6188 or email ericw@stpfeeds.org.
  • When you're ready, we hope you will send a photo and brief bio for our newsletter.
    • Send it to Irene, our parish administrator, at info@stpfeeds.org.
