ONLINE GIVING

You can help us out by supporting the church during this time of social isolation. There are several ways to give:

  1. Just continue to mail your pledge payment to church. We are checking the mail weekly and making deposits twice a month.
  2. Automate your giving by setting up an automatic ACH payment with your bank. Email Bonnie Haacke for more information.
  3. Give online -- it's easy. Just go to this page on our website and you can make pledge payments, memorial gifts, and more.

Or watch Fr. Eric's short video on how to do it:

PLEASE JOIN US FOR OUR OTHER ONLINE EVENTS DURING THE WEEK:

We are now also using a program called Zoom to create more opportunities to stay connected to God and to each other.

***NEW*** Zoom is now requiring passwords for scheduled meetings. Watch your email or read the E-pistle for the passwords for your meetings.

Our regular events include:

  • A Service of Noonday Prayer -- Monday through Friday from 12:00-12:15 pm.
  • Virtual Coffee Hour on Sundays at 11:00 am
  • Virtual Youth Group on Sundays at 11:30 am

Zoom is very flexible. It is designed as a video conferencing platform, so you are invited (if you are able) to use your computer, tablet or smart phone to join by video. There is a separate link for each event and you can find those below.

But you can also participate by phone as well by calling the phone number provided. You will be able to hear, but not see, the meeting, service or class.

Zoom also requires some different skills in online etiquette as well. It can be frustrating when everyone is talking and you can't understand anything. It works best when we take turns talking. It will definitely take some getting used to. But I invite you to give it a try.

If you are new to Zoom, I invite you to watch a tutorial first to get a sense of how it works. Please note, you do not have to have or pay for Zoom or any other program. You just click the link and add the meeting number. Or if you are calling, you just call the number and then add the meeting number when prompted.

Here are some other resources for you to use as you worship and pray at home.

Start with the Book of Common Prayer

  • I particularly recommend the Daily Office, beginning at page 74.
  • The Daily Office includes services for Morning Prayer, Noonday Prayer, Evening Prayer and Compline.
  • There are also shorter services called Daily Devotions for Individuals and Families, beginning at page 136. They are shorter versions of the four services above.
  • If you don’t have a prayerbook at home, the whole prayer book is also online at: https://www.bcponline.org

Speaking of the Daily Office, I really like the Mission of St. Clare.

St. Philip’s

Lent Madness: https://www.lentmadness.org/category/lent-madness-2020/

  • For a light-hearted look at the saints of the church, check out Lent Madness.
  • Every day during Lent you can vote between two saints.
  • On Easter the winning saint receives the Golden Halo.

The Washington National Cathedral offers free webcasts of their worship services.

  • These will continue even though the cathedral is closed to public worship for the next couple of weeks.
  • The preacher March 15 will be the Most Rev. Michael Curry, and on March 22 Bishop Marianne Budde will be the preacher.
  • They also have archived webcasts here: https://cathedral.org/worship/service-archive/

Centering Prayer

  • Paul Bozymowski offered a wonderful workshop last week on centering prayer, which I am finding really helpful in these anxious times.
  • You can learn more at: https://www.contemplativeoutreach.org.
  • There is also a neat app for your phone or tablet available on Apple or Android. It is called Centering Prayer.
